And Iām all about it.
Stepping into my soft girl era a few years ago felt like a deep, slow exhaleāreleasing the pressure valve of always doing, hustling, and achieving. (In other words, operating out of an imbalanced masculine energy.)
After navigating a health crisis, I knew something had to change in my work lifestyle. So when I rebuilt my business, I prioritized my health. And that meant balancing my masculine (yang) energy with more feminine (yin) energy.
Thereās now a softness in how I move through my day within my business, allowing for more ease, rest, and alignment. I shifted from pushing and striving to trusting and flowing.
This space gives me the kind of freedom and fulfillment Iāve always desired. And when we bring this energetic balance into our business, it results in a work-life rhythm that nourishes you rather than depletes you.
Here are four ways you can translate your Soft Girl Era to your businessā¦
01. Align Your Work With Your Moon Cycle
Each phase of your moon cycle (aka your menstrual cycle) supports a different aspect of your work. I go into detail on this in another blog post (link here!) but hereās a quick overviewā¦ā£
Your period is the best time for rest, reflection, and visualization
The follicular phase is great for preparing, initiating, and making decisions
Ovulation supports speaking, writing, and connecting with others
The luteal phase is best for deep focus, admin tasks, and completion
How do you know which phase of your moon cycle youāre in?
You can use a cycle tracker app, like Natural Cycles, which is what Iāve used for 4+ years (snag 20% off with my referral code). Or you can learn how to track your cycle manually. For support with this, check out my dear friend and client, Emma at Ebb and Flowās free resources here or reach out to her for 1:1 guidance.
02. Make Space for āBeingā Instead of Doing
Block time on your calendar to NOT work, if you have to! As they say, weāre human beingsānot human doings.
For me this looks like a slow, spacious morning ritual with meditation and gentle movement in the early morning sun, quietly sipping cacao or tea, journaling, and cooking a full breakfast before beginning work around 10ā11am.ā£
I find that when I start my day intentionally, I have much better focus and can get more done. So despite it seeming āunproductive,ā it can actually help you be more productive!
03. Follow Your Inspiration Instead of a To-Do List
As a Virgo sun sign, I always have a to-do list to keep track of things š¤ BUT I allow my inspiration to reign supreme. Leading with my inner knowing is the best thing Iāve done for more ease and less resistance in my day-to-day life.ā£
Thereās a sense of freedom that comes when I let go of rigid plans and follow what truly lights me up. I still have my list, but I donāt let it dictate my day. Instead, I check in with myself and ask, āWhat feels aligned right now?ā Some days, that might mean diving deep into design work. Other days, Iām more motivated to write or work on business admin tasks. The key is not to force something.
When I honor my inspiration, everything flows with more ease, and I feel less pressure to constantly do. Itās about trusting that when Iām in alignment, the right things will always get done.
04. Rest FullyāNightly, Monthly, and Seasonally
I prioritize rest each night, as well as when my body needs itāoften during my bleed and in the winter months. This is THE most important and honestly can be the hardest thing to doā¦ I had to deprogram from a ton of internal judgment and guilt around not being productive (and frankly, still do at times). Weāre conditioned to operate in a system that goes against our natural biology. The best thing you can give yourself is gentleness + space to heal and re-align with your body (with zero expectations for how long it will take). š¤ā£
