AGUAMIEL
WEBSITE DESIGN
Aguamiel is a true gem, located in the countryside just outside of Oaxaca City. Run by wife & husband duo, Leahy and Gera, they launched as a Sundays-only secret restaurant with the intention of empowering conscious consumption and relation to food as a source of healing + connection.
Within a few years, Aguamiel evolved and expanded to offer local and nomadic ceremonial healing experiences, including the ancestral medicine of the temazcal (sweat lodge). They decided it was time for their online brand presence to reflect this evolution and appeal to a larger, global audience. They came to me to translate their established brand identity to a more sophisticated and intentional website.
About the website design
Aguamiel initially DIYed their website on Wix and ran into challenges updating the site and getting it to do what they wanted. There was also a missed opportunity with their brand identity. (See their website before + after below.) I rebuilt their website on Squarespace, designing it to reflect their current branding—thoughtfully incorporating their color palette, fonts, logo, and photography to best represent their brand.
Because they’re based in Mexico and have a bilingual audience, we had the challenge of creating the site to serve both English and Spanish speakers. To do this, I created a simple splash page that showcases their brand video while providing the option to navigate to either the Spanish or English versions of the website.
